Getting Started with Novis

This article gives you a quick overview of how to use Novis, from asking your first question in Chat to creating and working with documents.

What You Need to Know

Novis is an AI-powered knowledge work platform designed to help professionals work smarter. Whether you need document analysis, content drafting, research, or strategic advice, Novis brings world-class expertise to your work.

The platform has three main components:

  • Chat – Your primary interface for asking questions and making requests

  • Workspace – Real-time document creation and editing environment

  • Tools – Special features accessed through @mentions (web search, research, and more)

Start Using Novis

Step 1: Set Your Context

Before you begin, tell Novis who you are. Go to Settings > User Settings to define your role (e.g., "Senior Legal Counsel," "Product Manager") and preferences.

Novis will automatically adapt its tone and expertise to match your profile in every interaction, so you don't have to repeat yourself.

Step 2: Open Chat

Click on the Chat interface. This is where you'll interact with Novis. Simply describe what you need.

Step 3: Ask Your First Question

Type a request. For example:

  • "Analyze this contract for risks"

  • "Create a project proposal document"

  • "Research the latest market trends"

Step 4: Attach Files (Optional)

If your task involves specific documents, upload them using

and reference them in your message by mentioning @[filename].

Step 5: Review & Refine

Novis will respond or create documents in the Workspace. You can then refine, edit, or ask follow-up questions.

Key Principles

Be Clear – Specific requests produce better results.

Provide Context – Attach relevant files and information to help Novis understand your needs.

Review Suggestions – When documents are edited, review proposed changes before accepting.

Let It Work – Novis will continue working autonomously until your task is complete.
